Rangers RAP – 23/03/2024
March 23, 2024
As stated in the Club Constitution, Chatswood Rangers Sport Club exists to contribute to the development of children and adults in the Willoughby City Council and surrounding municipalities by providing the opportunity for them to participate in sporting activities. And, we wish to inspire and develop our players and coaches, at all levels, while promoting inclusiveness and fostering a connected COMMUNITY SPORTING EXPERIENCE.
The above statements are not just words – they are our purpose our mission, and must be our mantra. We are a community organisation, run by volunteers, serving local residents in their desire to participate in Community Sport. Regardless of the Rangers team you play for or are associated with, it is Community Sport. We are not a professional organisation…nor do we want to be. We do want to act professionally and provide an amazing and enjoyable experience for all members.
With the above in mind, I would like to take an opportunity to remind all members and friends of Chatswood Rangers, that, just like the slogan of this year’s Harmony Week/Day states EVERYONE BELONGS at Chatswood Rangers.
We will not tolerate abusive or discriminatory behaviour towards any player, official or by-stander from our Club or any other Club. Once you participate in a Rangers activity (sporting or social) you are representing the Club and must reflect our values and expectations. I would advise everyone familiarises themselves with the Code of Conduct and ensure that all interactions are positive and polite. When supporting junior teams, please remember that they are the reason we are here, not you! If an opposition parent, official or anyone else is rude, aggressive or acts inappropriately, please do not respond or take matters into your own hands – leave that to the officials. And, feel free to report any incidents to your team manager who will then let us know.
Let’s all play a part in making Chatswood Rangers an inclusive, friendly and fun Community Club!

Celebrating Multiculturalism
Many of you likely celebrated Harmony Day in your school or workplace on 21 March. Harmony Day is a celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different cultural backgrounds. Did you know that Chatswood Rangers Junior Netball players also come from many different backgrounds?

Hopefully everyone is now registered and paid. Training grounds have been allocated and we’ll be organising gear for the season soon. Keep an eye out for the social calendar to come out soon, but a couple of items to put in the calendar now are the Season opening night at The Great Northern Hotel from 7pm on 6/4 and (my personal favourite) ANZAC DAY 25/4 from midday at the Great Northern Hotel. Rangers Seniors have a proud tradition of running this day for the club, its always a lot of fun, come down and be involved!
Pre-season trial games are well underway for most of the senior football teams as we count down the weeks to the start of the season. The Over 35’s recently ventured a few hours south to Sussex Inlet for what we hope will be the start of a regular pre-season trip away. Although we were meant to play their Over 35’s team, the opposition did try to stitch us up a bit by scheduling their top all age team instead. It's probably fair given we did boost our numbers with some ring-ins! Big thanks to AA4’s Seb Harvey for helping us out!
It was a tough match in gruelling conditions of 30+ degrees on a large park chasing 20 year olds around, however nevertheless the indomitable Rangers Spirit prevailed in a thrilling 8-7 win!
