Rangers RAP – 17/05/2024

May 17, 2024

Chatswood Rangers is a busy Club…on and off the fields/courts. Being a Community Club means we want our members to come together and enjoy the competition and camaraderie of sport, but also connect with one another as a network of friends. So, make sure you get involved and attend some of the great events that Chatswood Rangers organises throughout the season.

A couple of upcoming events include…

  • TRIVIA NIGHT – Saturday 6th July (tickets on sale soon)
  • FESTIVAL OF FOOTBALL – 9/10/11 June at Chatswood Oval

We will be looking for extra hands to support these events so look out for messages from the Club or team managers and see how you can be of help.

The weather is looking good for the weekend.  That said, please keep an eye on the NSFA website, as some grounds may be closed https://nsfa.asn.au/grounds/wet-weather/.

Between the bad weather and Chatswood HS Oval being closed for repairs, it was a frustrating week of training for the teams.  Thank you for everyone’s understanding and flexibility where we could move teams to different training spots.  We are pleased to advise that Chatswood HS Oval will reopen after Council made some minor repairs.  Training schedules will return to normal w/c 20th May.

Under 8 & 9 Development Program Update

The 2024 season has seen Chatswood Rangers make significant changes to our development program at all age groups, we feel the work everyone has put in since December 2023 will stand us in good-stead as we progress through this season and in to next season, where we aim to have the club back in the JDL program.  At present, we have our U8’s representing us in the JDL.  The following is feedback from our Development coach, Hansel Periera.

It is with great pride that I provide to you our very first update on the start to the winter season of soccer.

Let me begin by mentioning a big thanks to, both, Joe and Nick for trusting and providing us coaches with this opportunity to coach two very critical development age groups (U08 and U09). Also, a special mention to our coaches, Ben, Jaime and Josh who have worked very hard with the boys, over these past few weeks.

The training has taken off in great fashion and I believe we have an exciting group of kids to work. A shame, however, with the poor weather playing its part in the proceedings so far, that has limited some valuable playing time for the kids. Games are essential in their progression as they build experiences, which the kids and coaches (even parents!) can reflect on to improve themselves as the season progresses.

There will always be a strong demand for intensity in trainings and games. The kids have displayed this and have, so far, produced some very promising outcomes. Also critical to achieving success with them, is a need for a strong culture where they are allowed to explore, complimented with a strong system of learning and support, provided by the coaches and parents.

We are grateful to have met most of the parents so far, and we appreciate your feedback and support. Those we haven’t met so far, please feel free to come down and introduce yourself when the time permits.
