Rangers RAP – 09/08/2024

August 9, 2024

Do you have Olympic Fever? Don’t worry…no need to see a doctor…we all have it!

How great is it when the Olympics are on? Every day there is another story that warms our hearts and brings tears to our eyes. And every day is a reminder of how hard work and dedication leads to success. But, not all success is measured in gold medals and podium finishes. Personal bests and the honour of representing your country, are huge factors in the Olympic journey for our athletes…and we can all take inspiration from that.

Cheering for your team, your favourite athlete, your home country, or just for that person who is doing their best, we can all bring the Olympic Spirit with us to the courts and fields where Chatswood Rangers perform. Let’s make an extra effort this week to channel the spirit of our Olympic Team and show that Chatswood Rangers are a Club filled with positive enthusiasm, determination to do our best, and players and spectators who are respectful, fair and ‘good sports’.

Enjoy the weekend and your sport!

Around the Grounds

End of Season Schedule

All Development Team training will end on Thursday 22nd August. Community teams with paid coaches will end their training as per arrangements with the coaches, community teams without paid coaches should finish the week before their final matches.

Under 6 – Under 11 Community and development teams final games will be on the weekend of 24th August.

Our JDL teams will have their final games on weekend of 31st August

For all other age groups, Click here to confirm Competition Formats and finishing dates for your teams including finals.

For some competitions, average points will determine top 4 places. For competitions with finals scheduled on 17/18 August and 24/25 August, finals will be scheduled for all teams in that competition – e.g. for a 10-team competition, a 2-week finals series will be held for places 1-4 (i.e. 1v4 and 2v3) then separately for places 5-8 (i.e. 5v8 and 6v7) with teams finishing 9v10 also playing a one-off match in the first week of finals and the winners of semi-finals playing a final match on the second weekend. For competitions with finals dates finishing on 31 August / 1 September or after, as less grounds will be available we will only be scheduling semi-finals and finals matches for the top 4 teams.

Summer Football Academy

We have now secured grounds for a Mini-Roos Academy and Junior Academy to run from 9th September to mid December. This 12 week program is designed to cater for players looking to advance their football skills and ability, in particular those players looking to trial for a Development Team for the 2025 season.

Further details of the program have been circulated via email, on Facebook and full details have been posted to the Rangers website. Places in these programs are limited and are open to non-Rangers players, so please book your place soon if you wish to participate.

We are very excited to introduce these new programs to Rangers and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on player standards and team quality across the Junior Club.

2025 Season Development Trials (all age groups)

Trials for our 2025 Development teams (including JDL, Super League and Diamond League) have been scheduled for November. We are still finalising details for player trials across all age groups from Under 8  to Under 18 and look forward to sharing those details and taking registrations in the next few weeks.

End of Season Football Fun Day – Save the date

Chatswood Rangers will be holding the junior team presentations and a fun football morning at Thompson Park on Saturday 7th September. Teams will have the opportunity to get together to celebrate the end of the season and also have a lot of fun. Jumping castle, football activities, face painting, BBQ and more!

Volunteers needed!

The club will be looking for volunteers in the coming months for events we will be coordinating and for the new season.  It would be great if we could get more people involved to ensure the ongoing progress of the club.  If you are interested, please email juniorfootball@chatswoodrangers.com.au.

Umpires’ Success

Congratulations to our umpires who were assessed over the weekend.  All were successful in achieving the umpire levels they were assessed for.

Zara Jones – National C Badge

Audrey Fowler – Senior Level 2

Emma Yates – Junior Level 1

Anya Alam – Junior Level 2

All of our umpires have worked very hard throughout the season to improve their skills and prepare for assessment. Behind the scenes, the Chatswood Rangers Umpire Convenors, Alice McDermid and Claudia Coffey work tirelessly to ensure there are appropriately skilled umpires available for all Rangers netball games and provide mentoring to support the development of our umpires who are working towards their umpiring accreditation.  Well done everyone!

Got a bit of a niggle? Don’t let it linger!

I get it – a minor ache or twinge that seems to come and go is easy to brush off. We hope that these small discomforts will eventually resolve on their own. But addressing them early can prevent more serious issues down the line. Here’s why seeking physiotherapy for those initial discomforts is crucial and what you can expect from your first visit.

Benefits of early intervention:

  1. Prevent Escalation: Treating minor aches early can stop them from becoming chronic Physiotherapists identify and address underlying issues before they worsen.
  2. Faster Recovery: Early treatment often means quicker recovery! Even if it is just a niggle that isn’t causing that much of an issue, getting it looked at sooner rather than later will mean your back enjoying yourself faster than if you were just waiting
  3. Avoid Compensation Injuries: When you have a niggle you may begin to unknowingly put extra strain on other parts of your body. These compensatory movements may lead to you straining other parts of your body
  4. Better Outcomes: Research shows early intervention leads to improved long-term results, including reduced pain and enhanced

The bottom line is – don’t ignore that ache and let a slight niggle turn into a major problem! Come in for an assessment and we will figure out where it may be coming from and what we can do about it together ensuring you stay healthy and pain-free.

If you are suffering from an injury, feel free to book in a FREE triage consultation for our Physiotherapists to assess your injury.
