Coaching at Rangers

This year, the Junior Football Committee have decided to change the way we engage coaches for Community Teams. The general expectation for Community Teams is that a parent will volunteer for the role of coach. We thank these volunteers in advance for their time and effort and will work with you to ensure you have training and support as needed.

If a Community Team wishes to engage a paid coach, the process this year is as follows:

  1. Contact the Club via footballdevelopment@chatswoodrangers.com.au and express your interest in a paid coach. If you have a particular coach in mind provide their details. We will then follow up to collect any necessary information and start the search for a suitable coach.
  2. Once a coach has been selected and the team manager has agreed, we will engage the coach using our Coaching Agreement outlining the coaching expectations and commitment, as well as the terms of the agreement, including all costs. We have devised a standard approach to coaching fees, so costs are more consistent and equitable for everyone.
  3. Players/parents will receive an invoice from the Club for the season’s coaching fee, which the Club will use to pay the coach on a monthly basis and to cover any additional costs.
  4. Coaches will liase with our coaching coordinators to ensure they are equipped for their sessions and are provided the opportunity to continue their coaching qualifications as needed.

Our aim with this approach is to ensure greater consistency of the coaching experience across the Club and to develop a coaching program that sees our players and teams develop their football abilities and get the most out of their training sessions. We also believe this approach will reduce any potential risks involved with engaging third-party coaches.

If you are interested in coaching at Rangers, or know someone who is, please send an email to footballdevelopment@chatswoodrangers.com.au and we will include you on our register of coaches.

Refereeing at Rangers

Interested in turning your love of football into a chance to earn some extra cash? Then why not sign up to become a referee in 2024?

The newly formed Northern Suburbs Football Referees Association (NSFRA) is up and running and will be providing referees for all NSFA games this season. Joining up has never been simpler with registrations now open.

If you are a new referee (you must be 13 to register) all you need to do is register, complete the online laws of the game and then enrol in an upcoming course. Your registration fees include everything you need to referee – uniform (3 shirts, pair of shorts, socks and a hat), whistle, flags, notebooks and the all important red and yellow cards. If you were previously a referee, you can also sign up and get set for the 2024 season.

There are plenty of upcoming courses so get in now and you will be all set for the upcoming season. Anyone can become a referee, Mums, Dads, players and siblings and is a great opportunity to learn more about the game and be involved.

All details including how to register can be found in the link below

https://nsfa.asn.au/featured-news/level-4-referee-pre-season-courses-locked-in/

Gretchen Atkins and Sebastian Ruskin are our amazing Referee Coordinators this year so they will be in touch with all Rangers Referees and will be the point of contact for all inquiries. For now, if you are interested in refereeing, send an email to admin@chatswoodrangers.com.au

Football Development Program

The teams are progressing well after a few weeks of pre-season training. We are looking forward to seeing the players, new and old, develop over the season and are very excited to be working with Vision Football in the U10-U18 teams and with Hansel Pereira and his team of Rangers coaches for the U8 & U9 teams.

All inquiries regarding the Development Program should be directed to the Football Development Coordinator at footballdevelopment@chatswoodrangers.com.au

Ways to Get Involved

  • Junior Football Equipment Coordinator – The role involves coordinating the handout and collection of team uniforms and kits, advising the Junior Football Secretary of equipment needs and other support as necessary. This role can be shared between two or three people if needed.
  • Junior Female Football Coordinator – a role that is more important than ever and one which we are yet to fill. This role supports the ongoing development of our Girls teams and their transition to the Womens competitions. Working with the rest of the Junior Football Committee, this role is vital in ensuring we continue to cater for girls and women across the Club. This role could be shared between two people.

Our players are registered, teams are formed, and coaches assigned – YEY!

Thank you to all of our players, parents and officials for your efforts over the past month. The final piece that will set us up for the season ahead, is a call out for Team Managers.

Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to be a Manager for your child’s team. We still have 8 teams without a Manager so please consider taking this on. It’s a great way to be more involved in your daughter’s sport. The key roles of the manager are to assist with communication amongst the parents, ensure the equipment is brought to all games and training, and to reach out to another team manager if you need to borrow players for game day. The role is not too onerous but it is crucial for ensuring a smooth & well-organised season for all.

Training

Training for the season has started. All training is held on Wednesday evenings at the Bicentennial Netball Courts, Willoughby. Please park in the bottom car park. The top car park is reserved for patrons of the gym whilst there are construction works underway.

Training times are:

5:30 pm – Net Set Go, U10s, U11s

6:30 pm – U12s, 13s, 14s, 15s

Games

Round 1 games commence on the first weekend of April 2024.

v U10s, 11s, 12s play on Friday evenings

v U13s, 14s, 15s play on Saturday mornings

v Net Set Go (ages 7 to 9 years) play on Sunday mornings.

The Northern Suburbs Netball Association (NSNA) will release the fixtures / game times in the last week of March. There are no games played during school holidays. Dates for each round of games and holiday breaks can be viewed on the NSNA website at: https://nsna.com.au/calendar-4/

Uniforms

All players will need a uniform for Round 1 games in April. Please order your uniforms as soon as possible via the online shop at https://chatswoodrangers.com.au/shop

I look forward to seeing everyone at the courts for training in the coming weeks as the girls prepare for their Round 1 games next month.
